Murray S. Cohen, a scientist, entrepreneur, and lover of the arts died on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at the age of 96. Murray was raised in Brooklyn under humble circumstances. He attended Brooklyn College, and after serving in World War II went on to earn his PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Missouri.
Murray worked with aerospace scientists on early rocket propellants for the emerging space program. He continued his lifelong learning conducting scientific research and serving as an executive for several major companies. Cohen started his own chemical company, Epolin, at the age of 60. He remained engaged with the business until his retirement in 2012. His extensive knowledge, personality, and friendship will be missed.
