As the needs and applications continue to expand for IR light absorbance and visible light transmittance solutions Epolin knows sometimes it is hard to keep up. This is why we are committed to regularly providing professionals in our industry with variety of interesting topical articles on our blog.

Epolin NIR Light Management Formulations Protect Passengers from the Distracting Red-Glow Created by Driver Monitoring and Assistance Systems

In-vehicle Advanced Driver Assistance systems are designed to monitor driver alertness and provide occupant sensing for safety applications in Vehicles.  These systems use Near Infrared (NIR) LEDs to illuminate and detect objects via directed or flood lighting of the cabin.  To increase the performance and capability of these systems, they increasingly rely on Visible and […]

About Bandpass Filters

Bandpass filters, often implemented as dyes in electronic applications, serve as crucial components in various devices where the selection and manipulation of specific frequency ranges are necessary. These filters allow signals within a predetermined band of frequencies to pass through while attenuating or blocking frequencies outside of this range. In the context of electronic dyes, […]

Switching from opaque to transparent Managing near infrared light using visibly opaque materials.

Epolin’s Don Tibbitt recently had his article published on PhotonicsViews: Switching from opaque to transparent Managing near infrared light using visibly opaque materials. Learn how Near Infrared (NIR) light is selectively absorbed and transmitted to improve product performance, function, and safety. NIR is used in applications ranging from lidar and automotive ADAS to machine vision […]

Understanding laser protective eyewear requirements Meeting user and regulatory needs for a safe work environment

Sharing an article by Don Tibbitt, Technical Marketing Director at Epolin, within PhotonicsView magazine’s most recent addition. It covers the need for proper protective eyewear in various laser applications. It also explains how to accelerate development of lens or filter formulations that meet international certification standards. Click here for a download or reach out […]

Managing Near Infrared (NIR) Light Using Visible Opaque Materials

NIR illumination and detection electronics often incorporate a protective cover or lens that appears black or visibly opaque.  The black cover on the end of a TV remote or a dome around a night vision security camera are examples of visible opaque, NIR transmitting materials.  They obscure electronics and reduce heat from Solar’s visual spectrum while efficiently transmitting NIR portion of light.  They also expand design options and minimize the appearance of welds created by NIR lasers in part joining operations.
